By the way I’m really impressed by the variety of the countries you come from. World really is a small place.
So what are your best hopes from today’s reading? I’m positive you might be curious how my first therapy went. Thanks for asking. Indeed after posting on fb (and here), I got plenty proposals, in fact more than I anticipated. Had a couple of sessions, but not too many as it is tough work for me and takes much concentration in focusing on what works and pursuing constructive listening. It really does, but it is at the same time the most powerful experience and I felt accomplished. Can’t speak about clients, as they should tell their own experience and I’ll tell you about it in a couple of weeks as we see each other in the following sessions. Also, after I have dozens of sessions I’ll give you a more detailed description when there is a stronger empirical base to draw from and little chance of anyone being exposed in any way.
But apart from that there’s more news. A logo was born. A logo of my future business. Just yesterday I got back home from an international conference where I presented part of my doctoral thesis. It was a poster presentation titled Process of Determining Academic Adjustments for Disabled Students in a Solution Focused Way. As I’ve been to several international conferences already and am getting a bit more experienced, I realised I need a card. A business card. It has happened many times that people asked for it and I didn’t have one, because I thought it is not necessary, but in fact it is a pretty useful tool. So I figured it is time I get me one for this conference. Well not just for this conference, but in general a card might be a good idea.
Not a casual (boring) one, of course. I already had some ideas about my future logo. If you paraphrase letters from my name (and change a few) you get a fish and a balloon (riba balon). This came up as my husband and I prior to our wedding joked about my future name and surname and how it will sound like after we are married. I said this is what I will call my business one day. It was a joke at first, but we liked it and it was really original. No one thought it may become real. Well here’s one more proof that thoughts are real, so be careful what you think about because there is a great chance it may become reality one day.
Yes, it was a joke but it also had a deeper meaning. One of my ex-professors, whom I respect very much and who had a huge influence on me and my work when I was still an undergraduate student, said to me one day that my purpose is to take care that good people remain good. I agreed, but she was far more able to find the right words for it. So ribalon’s meaning is simply about a fish representing a client and a balloon lifting him/her up. And that’s what I do – I help people fly.
Now to get this on paper (screen), that’s the fun part. Although I deeply admire all Photoshop experts and graphic designers, my ideal is to keep things simple and unique. So I decided to draw ribalon myself, really draw it. I wanted it to be a genuine picture as imagined in my head. Using Inkscape (had to learn how to use it, and had a blast doing that!) here’s the final result. A dear friend of mine helped me put it into shape and so I got my very first business card and a logo: D and some people from the conference already asked for it. Look forward to hearing from them!
